Is CBD legal in all 50 states?
Before we dive into details we should start off off saying that hemp, marijuana, cannabis, ganja, mary jane, whatever you’d like to call it… they’re all the same plant. Crazy, we know, since one has landed thousands in prisons while the other is a thriving and fast growing force in our economy.
So what’s the difference? Well, it’s pretty simple actually. While these plants are all of the same species, hemp is classified as containing under 0.3% THC, meaning it will not get you high.
The number 0.3 is very important when it comes to hemp. Thanks to section 7606 of the Agricultural Act of 2014, industrial hemp containing less than the legal limit are considered distinct from high THC marijuana. Since this makes the whole plant legal it also means the materials derived from the plant are legal as well. Without the psychoactive effects of its well known cousin THC, CBD has all the benefits of cannabis without the worries.
